For maximum enjoyment we recommend reading the following article out loud.
Although not widely drank outside of Japan, everyone here simply loves chugging down Calpis (also known as “Calpico” for overseas markets, but where’s the fun in that?). It’s a beverage consumed by young and old, and believe it or not, Calpis is now celebrating the yogurt-based drink’s 100th anniversary in refrigerators across the nation.
And the makers are marking the occasion by going on a cross-country tour with their Calpis Faucet (Calpis Jaguchi), dishing out a steady stream of fresh Calpis free of charge!
▼ The commercial for the Calpis Faucet is a charming story of a young boy trying to will Calpis to come from his school faucets

Now, if you’re living in or near one of these areas, you’re probably rummaging through your closet for a pair of goggles so you can unleash a downpour of Calpis all over your face, but hang on. There is a limitation.
It seems only children in elementary school or younger are eligible to drink the Calpis. Despite its appeal to all ages, I guess we can’t blame them. After all, it’s not like Calpis grows on trees – everyone knows it grows in cows (though I doubt the police will tackle any child-accompanying parent who takes a sneaky sip of Calpis too).
Still, it’s sure to be a great event for kids, and parent’s shouldn’t worry either. Although Calpis has a refreshingly sweet taste and aroma, it’s also full of bacteria that is said to be beneficial to our health.
So, limitations aside, it’s still an amazing event to celebrate an outstanding accomplishment for a drink as unusual as Calpis to have become so widely enjoyed in Japan. The only thing more amazing is that this faucet-related news came without Seiji making his own Calpis Faucet like he had with orange juice, beer, crab soup, amazake, and Oronamin C.
We’re kidding, of course. That wasn’t amazing at all. We just locked him in a closet.
